Abstract
Relatively little is known of the mode of action of erythromycin. This antibiotic is widely used in the treatment of infections diseases and has undoubtedly prolonged the lives of thousands of people. It would seem axiomatic that more knowledge of the mode of action would serve as a foundation for more effective clinical use.
