About This Journal

BU Well Group 2017

BU Well was founded at Butler University in 2014 as the first open-access multimedia healthcare review journal in the nation in order to provide students the opportunity to write, publish, and manage an editorial. The project was created through the Butler Innovation Fund Grant written by former College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences Dean, Mary Graham and former BU Well advisor, Dr. Erin Albert, of the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, in 2015.

The mission of BU Well is to be an open access, student managed, online multimedia journal publication related to reviewing and advocating for pharmacy, interprofessional healthcare, and health policy through Butler University. Volume 2 Editor-in-Chief, Anne Leighty, has one overarching goal for the journal this year: getting more people involved. She states that, “the journal has so much potential and I think getting more people involved through external submissions or more views across the country would only help push BU Well forward.” First year student, Erin West, expressed her excitement regarding joining BU Well, stating that “BU Well provides a creative outlet to a lot of people that don’t have that opportunity in their day-to-day activities. The creation of an infographic and other digital media productions are certainly not in my curriculum as a pharmacy student, and it is exciting to explore what we can create individually and as a team to publish a successful journal.”

For those students mulling over the decision of submitting an article, one former member of BU Well offers this suggestion, “Go for it! It may seem daunting at first, but it is worth the effort. Ask others to help bounce off ideas and to read what you have written.”

BU Well will publish its third volume focusing on health, wellness, and life sciences in April of 2018.
