Abstract
The day after Fort Sumter was fired on, groups of men in the mercantile district of Indianapolis gathered to talk war instead of business. A mass meeting in the court house adjourned to the old Metropolitan theatre for additional room, then overflowed to the Masonic Hall across the street.
