JOHN WESLEY'S DOCTRINE OF MAN AND SIN

Carl F. Dunker, Butler University

Abstract

Individual Methodists differ in their doctrinal beliefs. Perhaps this is because the Methodist Church does not emphasize doctrine as strongly as it does the works of righteousness which proceeds from the love of God in the heart of man. There appears to be more emphasis on doing" rather than knowing." This one-sided emphasis is causing Methodists to ask, "What does our church believe?" They are confused as to what to believe concerning the Christian Faith and the Methodist position.
