Description

The number of teenagers dropping out in high school is a social problem that is often unrecognized by the public. This research study will look at different variables that influence teenagers to drop out of high school. We will use an anonymous online survey as our method. Teachers in the Huntington County Community School Corporation will be candidates for our data collection. Our hope is that teachers will give us feedback on the survey about characteristics of students who have dropped out, work ethic, and other topics relating to school performance. The purpose of the study is to raise awareness about the characteristics of high school students dropping out, as well as to hopefully work to prevent as many high school dropouts in the future. We want to use our data to encourage teachers to notice when a student is struggling, and ultimately, possibly keep a dropout from happening.
