Abstract

Should anyone ask, "Who originated crossword puzzles?", or, "How did the first crossword puzzle get its start?", here are some of the salient facts, as best I have been able to gather them. You see, I have had reason to investigate the history of crosswords. Before the recent appearance of that superb reference work, Colliers Encyclopedia, I was consulted by Major Donald D. Millikin for information on his article about crossword puzzles.
