Abstract
Educative Teacher Performance Assessment (edTPA) is an educator preparatory program that students complete at the end of their pre-professional experience. This assessment is often met with fear and apprehension for pre-service teachers leading up to its completion. With edTPA being completed during the student teaching experience, it can become a large burden on the student. This thesis will outline how changing your perspective of the edTPA process from an extensive assessment into using edTPA to make student teaching a more meaningful experience that expands your impact on your school and community. With that, the research question asks: How can student teachers use EdTPA to enhance their student teaching experience and use the framework offered to set themselves up for future teaching success? This research is based on my personal and professional experience completing edTPA and how I was able to use edTPA to enhance my lesson plans and improve my teaching ability throughout my student teaching placement. This will be an analysis on how edTPA is set up, how the sections within the framework connect to day-to-day teaching, and ultimately how edTPA can facilitate improvements in teaching throughout the student teaching process and beyond.
