Description

Due to educational reform and the exodus of teachers, the purpose of this research is to determine how teachers are feeling and reacting, specifically within the Huntington County School District, due to the lack of research on teacher voice within this area rural, yet significant area. During this transitional stage, the teachers within this school district were contacted and took part in a survey via Survey Monkey over several factors including: motivation to teach currently, job satisfaction, perceptions of support by administration, superior-subordinate communication, and happiness within their current lives i.e. is their job affecting their state of living in a positive or negative way – stress levels, energy levels, personal emotions. Due to the anonymity of Survey Monkey, teachers were able to report their feedback in an environment void of consequences that otherwise exist in the workplace. By surveying teachers in this area, their responses will provide a better idea about where several teachers in the district stand within their jobs, and a better awareness will be brought to the communities who support them.
