Description

Loneliness, lack of self-esteem, and social anxiety are all common problems facing college students. Understanding the relationship between loneliness, self-esteem, and social anxiety in college students could provide insight, and could have a practical impact on how these issues are handles in day to day life. I hypothesized that an individual's social anxiety and elf-esteem would be negatively correlated, loneliness and social anxiety would be positively correlated, and loneliness and self-esteem would be negatively correlated. Participants completed the revised UCLA Loneliness Scale (Russell, 1996), the Social Interaction Anxiety Scale (Mattick & Clarke, 1998), and the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (Rosenberg, 1989). Data will be analyzed and results will be discussed.
