Abstract
The purpose of this study is to illustrate that the works of Indiana authors Edward Eggleston, Gene StrattonPorter, Booth Tarkington, Jessamyn West, Ross Lockridge, Jr., Jean Shepherd, and William Gass serve as a literary record about the landscape and reveal emotions associated with change and progress, ranging from celebration to despondency.
