Description

Music adds to life in many respects; but can it help with information retention? The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of music on information retention. Seventy-five participants will be divided into 3 groups: no music, instrumental only and instrumental with lyrics. Each group will be given a list of unfamiliar words and be asked to learn the spelling and definition. Will the 2 music conditions produce greater retention than the no music condition? If so, which of the music conditions will produce greater retention? Is there a difference in a person’s sex and the impact of music on retention?
