Description
Over the decades, the college experience has not changed significantly. But there is a new trend; a frightening, violent trend. A cursory glance at the news will probably lead you to assume free speech no longer exists on campuses. In fact, colleges across the nation are battling over the application of First Amendment rights. Inspired by the turbulent cultural climate, this article explores free speech, diversity and inclusion, and the future of politically correct public and private colleges. It uses supporting evidence from American history, recent news, original research and multiple interviews. Context is key: To recall the intended deployment of the First Amendment in higher learning, this article delves into the past and makes an educated guess about the future.
