Description

Ruben Dario was a highly influential poet in the history of literature because he was able to start a movement; Modernism. This presentation will include a short biography of Dario and his life, a small description of Modernism as a movement, and an analysis of one of his most famous poems, “El Cisne.” A “cisne,” or swan, was widely considered to be a symbol of modernism, and the poem reflects how poetry changed with the start of Modernism. I will also be referencing “Canto a la Argentina,” which is the longest poem of Dario’s career, to help create a complete image of Dario’s influence on literature and how he was able to start a movement. I plan to present my paper in Spanish.
