Description
According to Indiana’s national statistics, today the poverty rate is over 20% in Grant County, and 29% of those individuals are under 18 (Stats.Indiana.edu). This figure confirms poverty within Grant County. Circles of Grant County is striving to attack this problem through community outreach programs. These programs give participant necessary support and educational resources needed to overcome generational poverty. It is their mission to better equip individuals and put an end to poverty. This qualitative study gathered the voice of participants in Circles via semi-structured interviews with newly enrolled participants in Circles and those involved for more than six months. The usage of open-ended questions allows for the participants to expand on their answers. The purpose of this study was to capture changes in values systems and overall experiences from those participating in Circles. It is the hope that results will allow Circles leadership to access the effectiveness of the programming. Consequently, Circles can build on current strengths and make alterations as indicated based on the client's perceptions.
