Abstract
This thesis is a study of the founding and continued growth of Bacone College The school now located just outside of Muskogee J Oklahoma, was originally started at Tahlequah I Indian Territory, in 1880. It was commissioned under the name, Indian University and well it was because the Indian was the prime cause for the institution, In 1885 the University was moved from Tahlequah to the present location at Muskogee. Bacone, pronounced (Bay-Cone), College replaced the name Indian University in 1910 when the board decided to rename the college in honor of its founder Almon C. Bacone
