Abstract
RECENTLY, religious studies scholars and Christian practitioners alike have joined in discussions about the effect of Christian yoga on one’s spiritual life. The following article analyzes findings from an online survey based on Christian yoga practitioners' behaviors. The findings affirm that Christians who practice yoga see mystical experiences as a part of their practice but separate this from elements of bhakti yoga. This phenomenon is predicated on practitioners' unfamiliarity with and resistance to engaging with the historical origins of yoga beyond its physical practices, instead shaping their yoga practice to fit their prior faith commitments.
