Abstract

Does our image and understanding of the Divine matter? Are there any ethical impacts for our theology/thealogy? And how might interreligious dialogue deepen our own study? The Hindu Śākta thealogical understanding of Who Mahādevī, “The Great Goddess” is, has much wisdom to offer. That thealogical understanding, in conjunction with Christian Scottish theologian Ruth Page’s (1935-2015) concept of pansyntheism, both of which highlight God’s profound relationship with materiality, provide avenues for addressing ecological crises and demonstrating how these concepts of deep relationality lead us to live lives for the sake of the cosmos and one another.
