Abstract
The article offers information on the changes introduced in literacy instruction standards with their relation to music teaching. It also focuses on Common Core State Standards (CCSS) as the as the language arts stan-dards that have been adopted by 46 states in the U.S. It also mentions that literacy represents a synthe-sis of language, thinking, and contextual practices through which people make and communicate meaning of thoughts.
