In the 1920s and 1930s, a time period known as the "Neues Bauen", the focus and design of architecture in Germany underwent many changes. With the help of the Bauhaus school founded in this time, this period brought with it a shift from emotional, Expressionistic art and buildings towards a more practical modernism, placing an emphasis on functionality meeting form. This paper explores the history and principles of the Bauhaus school and the "Neues Bauen" time period, as well as their influence on the architecture of today.
