Description

I will focus my research presentation on the roles of ethnicity and race in Latin America I will utilize a mainly Spanish first hand-sources and or literary texts. I will begin by defining ethnicity and race and their historical effects starting in 1492 and how they changed the original view of society in those regions. Due to European influence the paradigm of ethnicity and race were completely altered. I will go on to discuss the current influence of ethnicity and race and how it has changed from the past, if at all. I will then focus on the current problems that have arisen within this region due to race and ethnicity and its global implications. I will conclude with a more global perspective of how race and ethnicity really affect these populations and how we as people can better our view of society and society itself by learning to appreciate and respect the "Gran Mestizaje" of our continent.
