Description
International adoption has become more attainable in the 21st century due to technology and resources becoming more advanced. The goal of this study is to determine whether or not the length of time a child has been adopted internationally plays a role in their attachment style. Parents from different states who have adopted internationally will be surveyed and asked to rank their child's attachment style based on the Ainsworth Attachment Scale. This research draws upon Mary Ainsworth's effort to contrive an experiment known as the "strange situation" in order to investigate differences in the four attachment styles. These attachment styles are the following: secure attachment, avoidant attachment, resistant attachment, and disorganized/disoriented attachment.
