Description
The current study attempts to find a relationship with acute consumption of alcohol and impulsivity. Participants engaged in placebo alcohol and alcohol test groups before performing various computer program tests related to impulsivity testing. The alcohol was consumed during fifteen-minute consumption sessions prior to the testing period. The study adapted a delay-discounting maze task from a previous study exploring impulsivity in rats to the current study dealing with placebo and experimental alcohol. The participants also completed the Balloon Analogue Risk Task (BART) to assess impulsivity as well. Chronic alcoholism surveys and demographic questionnaires were utilized to assess the findings from the two computer tests and provide further discussion on a participant's impulsivity ratings. Data collection for the current study is still ongoing.
