Description
Many college students would like to believe that they were exemplary students in high school and that is what leads them to pursue a degree from a higher education institution. Multiple research studies have indicated that many students believe they do better if they are grouped with students of equal ability. Past research has linked under performing in school to boredom and students feeling like they aren't being challenged enough with their school work or within the group they are placed in. Ability tracking and grouping has led many students down different educational and vocational tracks. The purpose of this study is to explore and understand how current college students' make sense of their experiences with ability tracking and grouping. The research is being done through interviews of current Butler University students.
