Description

Richard Wagner's theory and practice of drama were not reliant on societal norms and standards by any means. Wagner held his own opinions on how opera should be written and performed and he did not seem to care if his ideas clashed or opposed with societal norms of the time. Wagner's style is interpreted many different ways; some consider it beautiful, while others consider it insane and psychotic. While it may seem at times that Wagner's music has no order and is meant to confuse his audiences, Wagner believed in a meticulous theory that he applied to his operas in order to convey a certain message.
