Description

Scientific research has proven that human behaviors and lifestyles are contributing to the rising global temperature, which is wrecking environmental havoc. There is a general consensus in the literature that and individuals’ implementation of environmentally considerate behaviors and habits can help slow down climate change. By evaluating quantitative data gathered via an electronic survey, this study attempted to answer the question “At Butler university, what social factors influence a student to adopt an environmentally friendly lifestyle?”. By comparing the answers pertaining to potential social influences (independent variables) from respondents whose lifestyles ranged from not environmentally friendly to very environmentally friendly, I was able to conclude that this study was not able to identify a singular factor that correlates with a student’s likelihood of adopting an environmentally friendly lifestyle. The discussion portion of this report addresses multiple potential reasons as to why no factor was identified in this study. Sociology
