Description

An online survey was distributed through social media asking people between the ages of eighteen and twenty-four to disclose their histories with alcohol. The purpose of the survey was to find out whether people with earlier exposure to alcohol such as parental use or early self use had better drinking habits than those who were first introduced to alcohol in their college years. The results showed no substantial difference in the frequency in which the two groups drink per week on average, however, there seems to be a correlation between early exposure to alcohol and the amount of alcohol an individual consumes when they do consume alcohol. People who were exposed to alcohol early and in particular, consumed alcohol prior to college, were more likely to engage in binge drinking more frequently than those who did not.
